Fall Classic Game 7 Captures 51M Audience Members In the United States, Canada and Japan Markets.

The thrilling 11-inning matchup where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run drew a total 51M viewers in the United States, Canada, and Japanese markets. MLB announced this is the highest-rated World Series Game 7 since the 1991 edition contest between the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s epic contest drew over 27 million audience members on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per ratings data, it was the second most-watched program of the week.

It also stands as the most-watched World Series game since the 2017 Game 7 between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07M. This represents a 16% improvement compared to the previous Game 7 between the Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game placed 4th, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 came in 8th, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game recorded 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English broadcast in the country since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12M. This followed the previous Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – averaged over 13 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a single network in the country.

Series Totals and Trends

The entire seven-match World Series recorded 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This represents the first time after 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has recorded viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Counting the opening game broadcast on Univision, the complete US viewership reached 16.1M. The total Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1 million in Canada.

The full MLB Postseason on Fox and its sister channels recorded 8.09 million watchers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and Fox’s best playoff ratings since the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was televised in 203 countries and territories by 44 media partners in 16 various languages.
